Northern Ireland Representative - Raymond Flanagan

Raymond worked as a trainee Audiologist in Royal Belfast Hospital for sick Children 1980-1982.

After qualification he worked in Paediatrics until 1985.This was an interesting time in Peads as ERA as a clinical tool was being developed
Ear mould contracts in the '80s did not provide as prompt a service as today with many newly diagnosed children waiting many weeks for earmould production.

In 1985 Raymond set up an earmould manufacturing laboratory in the RVH to expedite Hearing aid fitting in children.

Raymond became a Chief Audiologist in 1988 working a combined Adult and Paediatric service. He was deputy service manager at this time.

I completed my Masters in Audiology in 1997 in London under the expert guidance of the late great Peggy Chalmers.

I became Head of service of the Royal Victoria Hospital in 1998 and the Head of the Belfast Trust in 2010.

Having previously served on BAAT Board of Examiners and the Education and Training Committee Raymond now represents Northern Ireland on BAA Board
