10.9 No Board member may serve more than 2 consecutive full 3 year terms of office

22.1 The Members of the Board appointed by the first Trustees shall step down as soon as possible after the formation of the Academy and a new Board shall be formed before or at the first AGM by the following procedure. There shall be twelve places on the Board open to election. Each of the constituent former professional bodies shall either nominate or hold elections for up to four full members, in whatever manner they see fit. When the result is declared the new elected Board will take office. Any of the twelve places remaining vacant may be filled as the new Board sees fit.

22.2 At the second Annual General meeting six Board members shall be required to retire by rotation, divided equally between those nominated by each of the former professional bodies. The nominees of each former body shall determine amongst themselves which shall so retire. The six vacancies shall be filled by open voting of all eligible members of the Academy (i.e. without reference to any former professional affiliation). At the third AGM, the six remaining members of the first elected Board shall retire and the six vacancies filled by open voting of all eligible members of the Academy. Board members retiring under this Article shall be eligible to be re-appointed.

22.3 At the fourth and subsequent Annual General Meetings, four Board members (or as near as possible to one third of the number of Board members) shall retire. These shall be selected in order of their length of service on the Board, either by agreement among themselves or else by lot after ignoring those Trustees who retire and are eligible for re-election by virtue of being appointed since the last AGM.

22.4 Of the four Officers appointed from within the first elected Board, and also following the second AGM, at least one shall (if possible) be from each former professional body.

22.5 The Board shall ensure fair representation of the former professional bodies on all sub-committees of the Academy for as long as it is required but in any case for at least two years.
