Hearing Aid Aptitude Distance Learning programme
The Hearing and Balance Centre at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR), University of Southampton, is now running the Hearing Aid
Aptitude Test distance learning programme. This six-week online course has been designed to meet the needs of suitably qualified Audiology
practitioners. The course is accredited by the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC). Successful completion of the programme confers eligibility
to apply to the HCPC to register as a Hearing Aid Dispenser, which is a legal requirement in order to sell hearing aids privately.
The programme comprises one web-based module, divided into six sub-sections. Each section has a prerecorded
lecture delivered by an expert in the area, supporting documents and links to other resources.
Students access all the teaching and learning resources at any time of the day, remotely using the Blackboard web-based platform, available
on a range of web enabled devices.
Assessment is via a 90-minute multiple-choice exam paper, which will be held at the ISVR in Southampton.
