This long-established masterclass will be conducted entirely online in 2021 due to the ongoing pandemic. There will be a variety of interactive tasks for participants to complete online and two live days in a virtual classroom on Tuesday 26th and Wednesday 27th January.
Overview: Registration fee covers full access to the dedicated course website from 12th January for 6 months and participation in both live days
Topics: The course covers a wide range of topics on tinnitus and hyperacusis, including:
· The neurophysiology of tinnitus
· Tinnitus assessment and treatment
o Cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, bimodal stimulation, neuromodulation approaches, treatment approaches based on acoustic stimulation (hearing aids, noise devices, notched music, patterned acoustic stimulation, and drug treatments
· Mechanisms of hyperacusis
· Assessment and treatment of hyperacusis
· Covid 19 and tinnitus
· Patient needs and research perspectives
These topics will be covered in online lectures, interactive live sessions, and live panel discussions. There will be a special focus on the available evidence for the effectiveness of different treatment approaches, the current state of research, and on how to manage tinnitus and hyperacusis in children.
