There is a lot going on with the BAA Higher Training Scheme at the moment. With that in mind, the committee offers you a round up of what is due to happen over the next few weeks.

Handbook: The Higher Training Scheme handbook has been updated. You can find the latest version here: BAA members HTS handbook.

Logbook: The new HTS registration system and logbook for HTS candidates is almost ready to go live. With the change of our administration support, we have taken the opportunity to significantly improve the online logbook and registration system. This has taken longer than anticipated, so we apologise to those affected. However, we are pleased with how this is now functioning. The setup will undergo final checks with the committee and will be available soon. All current candidates will be notified when it is up and running.

Supervisor’s meeting: Thank you to everyone who attended the HTS Supervisors update webinar on 2nd March. For those who could not attend, the recording is now in the Supervisor section of the HTS page. Please let us know if you watch it for your supervisor record.

Equivalence scheme: Our current pilot of an equivalence scheme for the Paediatrics 6 months+ module will finish on Friday 31st March 2023. While we had hoped to continue to extend the equivalence scheme offer, and potentially open it to other modules, there is no guarantee of this. We need to review the process and results of this pilot project before an extension decision is made.

Candidates are still being welcomed on to the scheme, but please ensure you apply by 31st March. Once this initial cohort has completed their exams, a decision will be made about future equivalence offers.

HTS fees increase: We need to increase registration and exam fees for all HTS modules from 1st April 2023. Unfortunately, this has become necessary due to the increased costs associated with the scheme, including travel costs for examiners. The scheme has been running at a loss for 18 months, and we now need to make sure it covers costs. From 1st April, fees will be:

Fees

Registration

£ 295

Clinical Exam Session

£ 495

Re-sit fee for online viva

£ 100

Examiner’s date for your diary:
This year’s examiner’s meeting will take place on Friday 1st Dec from 9.15am – 11.15 am. A teams link will be sent to all examiners on our database. If you have not received that by Friday 24th February, please contact our admin team. admin@baaudiology.org It is important that you try to make this meeting if you wish to continue as an examiner.

For those who were unable to make the December 2022 update, please watch the recording on the examiner’s page of this website. It is important that everyone is up to date with information about the scheme.
