Kathryn Lewis, Head of Audiology at University Hospitals South Manchester, is the new president of the British Academy of Audiology (BAA).

An emergency Board meeting has confirmed the appointment of Kath Lewis as president of the BAA. The appointment of a new president was necessary following the departure of Karen Shepherd. Unfortunately, Karen took the difficult decision to stand down as president. Her family and the demands of the future challenges faced by her employer, need to take priority.

Kath Lewis is a head of service, with extensive audiology and management experience in the NHS. She is also a registered hearing aid dispenser with the HCPC. Kath is an Honorary Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University and Manchester University. Kath takes part in STEM ambassadors, is a Trust coach and undergoing accreditation as a Team coach.

Kath is also Secretary of the North West School of Audiology. The school provides professional audiology training courses, seminars and lectures.

“I'm delighted Kath is the new BAA president. Kath brings so much experience and passion for audiology to the role. The Board decision was unanimous. Her experience, organisational skills and calm, confident nature will make her a great president for BAA.”
