NICE guideline on Tinnitus: assessment and management

March 11, 2020 at 12:17 PM

This final guideline has now been published on the NICE website. You can also find the supporting evidencetools and resources as well as all the stakeholder comments that were received during consultation and the responses to these comments. The comments were invaluable in helping to develop and refine the guideline. There is also an equality impact assessment to support the guideline.

The recommendations from this guideline have been included in the NICE pathway on tinnitus, which brings together everything we have said on Tinnitus: assessment and management in an interactive flowchart. There is brief information about the guideline for people using services, carers and the public at 'information for the public'.

This guideline covers the assessment, investigation and management of tinnitus in primary, community and secondary care. It offers advice to healthcare professionals on supporting people presenting with tinnitus and on when to refer for specialist assessment and management.

For adults with tinnitus and hearing loss, this guideline should be read together with the NICE guideline on hearing loss in adults.
