During BAA Conference 2018 Sue Falkingham was pleased to announce a partnership between BAA and the IDA institute.

The goal of the partnership is to enhance the quality of audiological rehabilitation and support the advancement of hearing care. Both are causes central to the Ida Institute and BAA.

This partnership is really important to BAA as it promotes a Person Centered Care approach to all BAA members.

Sue said, "I see this as an opportunity for BAA members to develop skills in practice around Person and family centered care. I’ve been talking about every interaction with the people we see being the most important part of Audiology since I started my Presidency, and I see enhancing our focus as an organisation on this as a tangible thing we, as BAA members can do to enhance that goal".

The partnership will start by releasing the great lecture from BAA Conference by Louise Hickson PhD, who is part of IDA's Advisory Board. Louise presented on the The Evidence and Implementation of Family-Centered Hearing Rehabilitation. This will be released to all BAA Members along with some additional suggestions for further reading, and learning from the IDA Learning Hall.

The partnership will continue to develop over the next year and BAA are looking for Person Centered Care (PCC), champions among their membership who will spread the learning into local networks.

A lot of learning with IDA can be easily accessed on line, promoting this work and signposting segments that can be well translated into clinical practice will ensure our members receive a more focused approach to the implementation of PCC.

The partnership is a great step and IDA also announced it last week by saying,

“BAA is recognized as a global leader in audiology,” said Ida’s Managing Director Lise Lotte Bundesen. “Partnering with such a respected institution that has goals aligned with Ida’s own offers exciting opportunities to strengthen a person-centered approach in hearing healthcare. We look forward to kicking off the first activities soon.”
